“More people are beginning to desire a permanent record of their existence.”

I came to know Qian Xiaosheng many years ago in mainland China.
He is a man of commitment, deeply concerned—like myself—with the conditions faced by farmers and migrant workers under institutional constraints such as the household registration and land systems.
Over time, I have retired from Trinity College, while he has moved to the United States and begun a new chapter.
He has perceptively recognized that society has entered a highly digital age.
In such an era, many individual life traces are difficult to preserve and verify over the long term due to device changes, platform shutdowns, and account loss.
As a result, more individuals are beginning to desire a permanent record of their existence, along with rightful ownership of such records.
This may evolve into a fundamental and widespread demand.
Motivated by this insight, he has devoted himself to a new and meaningful endeavor—the creation of THES (Terra Human Existence System).
This is an uncharted field, yet one that holds profound significance for ordinary people.
On the occasion of the official launch of THES, I extend my warmest congratulations to Qian Xiaosheng.
I hope that his vision will gain increasing recognition and support, and that this emerging field will bear fruitful results in the near future.
